Twitch.tv is a website devoted to gaming and the button mashin' gamers who live the life. Through twitch, users are able to broadcast themselves playing video games to anyone willing to tune in. This medium has quickly become a popular form of entertainment for millions of people across the world.
In 2013 I decided to see what it would be like to start my own Twitch.tv channel devoted to the art behind the games. After all, the iconography of video game history was a heavy influence on me and continues to be even today so it just seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to dive into the world of live streaming. Since I wasn't a super pro gamer (just a filthy casual) I figured some people might find it interesting to see the art side behind the games they love instead of falling asleep watching me get rekt.
Sample of some of the free drawings I've done for viewers over the years.
At first I didn't know what to expect. I started broadcasting art jam sessions to an audience made up of mostly friends and people I knew from the gaming community. In the beginning, my channel was almost primarily dedicated to the art of World of Warcraft, a game I have played for over a decade. I began drawing sketches for viewers of their own unique WoW characters (or toons as we call them in the world of Azeroth and beyond). Each time I went live, my audience grew little by little which encouraged me to continue to do it because I discovered there was an interest in my work and it was making people happy.
Today the stream has become a super hobby for me, I spend at least a few days a week developing my channel, thinking of ways to improve content and continue to connect with people from all walks of life by giving away free art through my weekly "GiEFAWAYS" as they've come to be called. I still get a lot of viewers from the WoW community but all genres are welcome. If you're ever in the mood to hang out with me, listen to some retro music and art jam it up, you can find my channel here.
See you in the chat!
